A silly little Facebook… Bug?

Check out the update below.

A friend of mine posted a status update with something rather interesting. According to the status, you were able to find out the name of your phones sim card by typing in a simple “code” to the comments box of any type of post. All you had to do is type in the following;

@[123:0]

Replace the numbers “123″ with the last three numbers of your telephone number. I tested it out and indeed it work. It changed @[854:0] into Ashley Nathanson. Kind of odd, but what ever. I then started to wonder if it would work with other numbers. It did. It worked with almost any number abover 110. It even worked with 4 digit numbers and so on.

Im not sure if this is a bug, or if Facebook knows about this, but I thought I would share it with you. Check out the video below to see me doing it on one of my photo comment boxes.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

I have been ill for the past week or so, so I haven’t got around to writing about Counter-Strike: Global Offensive yet. I finally took a nice long look at the intro trailer that Valve released a while ago.

I have to say that I am very disappointed with Valve on this one. If you knew me before my Call of Duty days, you would have known that I was a hardcore Counter-Strike fan since around November 1999 when my friend introduced it to me.

Pimped up advertising

There have been a lot of things over the years that I would consider come with “pimped up advertising”; a little example of this is something that I saw on Steam this morning when I started it up.

This image basically gives the feel that the game is going to be cool, perhaps almost Tron like. I was expecting first person action or something. I clicked it and it took my to the games page.

Teaching the boy

Yesterday I decided that I wanted to help Ryan with his learning. The way I am approaching this is by helping him write a blog. Nothing over complicated, or too detailed. A few sentences to help him practice his spelling and how to write sentences. Obviously not everything is going to be perfect, but I hope what I teach him on the computer will translate across to paper and vice versa.

The aim of this little project I have under taken is not only to help with his spelling and computer skills, it’s also about documenting his progress as he grows and learns through the years. To prove that it is indeed him writing the blog posts, I have taken the liberty to record him typing his first one up. It took around 20 minutes for him to do this, so I have cut the audio and speeded the video up!

Although his post isn’t spelt correctly, it is legible and you can understand what he is trying to convey. The funny thing is though, if you compare what he has written, and then ask a 15-year-old to do the same, there wouldn’t be much difference with the spelling  and grammar!

Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 3

The trailer has only been out for a couple of days now and already people are calling for the game to be banned as they feel that a scene from the trailer depicts real events which happened in the July 7th London bombings. Don’t these people understand that it’s a damn game? Not to mention, it’s aimed at adults only which will most likely mean it will be tagged with an 18 rating, so shouldn’t be sold to anyone under age!

What I find quite comical about their outrage is the fact that they have completely missed the fact that it’s a game, based on a fictional world war 3 scenario, which was started by the Russians! Please, someone, slap these stupid people! It’s a fucking game, not real life!

Crysis 2 PC Gameplay Demo

I managed to finally create an account on MyCrysis.com and play the game. My system doesn’t exactly match up to the game developers requirements ( I will list them below ), but it plays like a dream. The specifications are much higher than Crysis 1 and that doesn’t play too well on my PC so I wasn’t hoping for much with Crysis 2.

My system specifications

  • OS : Windows XP
  • Processor : AMD Athlon 5600+ x2 @ 2.8ghz
  • Memory : 3.25GB
  • Video Card : Asus Nvidia 8800GT 256mb
  • Hard Disk : I have plenty, not to worry there!
  • Sound : Onboard
  • DirectX : 9.0c

Crysis 2 System Requirements

  • OS: Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, with the latest Service Pack
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo at 2Ghz, or AMD Athlon 64 x2 2Ghz (SUBJECT TO CHANGE), or better
  • Memory: 2GB
  • Hard Disk Space: 9Gb (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)
  • Video Card: NVidia 8800GT with 512Mb RAM or better, ATI 3850HD (SUBJECT TO CHANGE) with 512Mb RAM or better
  • Sound: DirectX Compatible Sound Card
  • DirectX®: 9.0c

When game developers give out system requirements to the public, they don’t tend to state whether they are minimum or recommended. As this is not stated with Crysis 2′s requirements, I will assume they mean minimum requirements. If this is the case, then my system doesnt make the cut what so ever! As you can see, I have an old system, but I would call it an average system, but is rapidly becoming unable to play the latest games.

As I stated above, even though I don’t exactly make the cut, the game plays beautifully. I average around 50 – 60 frames per second, which is pretty damn good for a game thats not even released yet!

Back to the Future – The Game?

Valve has just unleashed Back to the Future: The Game – Episode 1: It’s About Time on to their customers. I haven’t bought the game, and will most likely not buy it at all.  From what I can tell though, it’s going down a completely different path from the films but set a year after the first one! The trailer itself looks quite funny, in terms of the way the characters look but thats pretty much all you can tell about the game.

If anyone has bought it, let me know what you think of it plus perhaps uploading a game play video ? It looks funky and I want to see what its like!
