My Birthday Weekend

I decided to go and see the kids for my birthday weekend. I ended up staying for a couple of nights while I was there. The first night was in the car at the Intech Science Centre car park. It was a lovely night. It was really relaxing, away from everything and everyone, but then I woke to this;

A flat tyre! It turned out that I must had run over a screw on the way to the car park where I was parking up for the night

First time changing a tyre and it went well!

This stupid ass space saver tyre caused me to take over 3 and a half hours to get back home from Winchester!

White Horse Wood Country Park

Every day I have been passing a place on the way to work called White Horse Wood Country Park. This morning I finally packed my wellies and jeans and decided to go exploring when I finished work.

DSC_20610 DSC_20618 DSC_20649I got there just after sun rise. It was rather chilly, but luckily I packed my coat and extra socks with my wellies. The majority of my time was spent just looking around. Seeing what was where and what might be cool to come and see again in the future with a focus on taking photos.

Sadly White horse has a display and pay parking system in place, but it is not active before 8am and I think after 6pm! Which was perfect for me as I had finished work at 6am this morning!

There was a little area where a castle used to stand. Now its just a mound with some broken down old walls.I got up the mound fine. Coming down was another thing!

This is the offending hill.

And this is what happened to me!

Thankfully that’s only mud! Not that it mattered! I still had to be able to handle my phone, my camera and my fags with a muddy hand! Oh well!

Before I left I made sure I got a panorama of the area as it’s so beautiful.

What the fuck?

Tonight at work has been different. I got to meet someone who works here. The guy is hilarious, but he’s way up there on his high horse, and I don’t really tend to care for these type of people, because they seem to think they are better than the rest of society.

He’s constantly bragging about money, and how much his daughter uses him as a bank. He also mentioned about going out on the lash, and that people over a certain age should be banned from clubs etc – this I would agree with, because women over a certain age tend to try and dress like their daughters then end up looking like run down slags, and the men tend to look like pervs, and then he goes on to say that he only goes to the expensive places, because there’s no poor people there. This guy’s attitude to others seems really disgusting, and I have no idea how the hell he’s survived in life.

On a brighter note about tonight at work I actually managed to do some work. I’ve really been trying hard to learn the system that we use to log jobs. Tonight has been filled with so many potholes you would not believe. The crew have not stopped once. They even managed to get their photo taken by Kent Police on a job we did on the M2 just after midnight filling in a pothole!

Despite the amount of work that was done tonight the evening has really dragged on. I’m here for a 12 hour shift, but it feels like it’s been the better part of 20 hours so far. Thankfully it’s now 5am, and I’m off home in an hour, but then I have to do this all over again tonight!

Bloody weather!

Tonight at work has been annoying, because of the recent rain and winds in the Kent area there is tree after tree that’s fallen down that needs dealing with, so we’re getting call after call from the Police, the crew, and the Highway patrols etc.

The annoying thing is I don’t really have a chance to do much because the guy I’m working with tonight jumps on the phone before I get a chance to pick up, so it looks like I’m doing fuck all – not that I mind being paid for doing nothing, but it gets rather boring, and I find the old mind wondering about things that it shouldn’t.

I’m looking forward to August this year, because I get to have the kids for almost three weeks during the summer holiday. I’ve been looking into planning a little trip with them, but I can’t decide where I would like to go. I’ve had a look at the south-west of England, but then I’m thinking that they would love the Peak District, but then what about travelling to Wales or Scotland? I don’t know. I’ve not made my mind up yet. Plus it all depends on my situation at the time. The job I have is basically cover for maternity leave, but I hoping that there might be a permanent position available here for me. I can only hope.

If you’ve travelled to any of the places I’ve mentioned, where would you recommend? Or even if you’ve been somewhere else that I haven’t mentioned I would still like to know. I’m open to suggestions.
