HTC Desire O2 Pay As You Go Settings

I have had some trouble with my phone recently. It hasn’t wanted to send multimedia messages ( MMS messages ). It turns out that O2 don’t support my phone at all and I shouldn’t have bought it in the first place!

I have been phoning O2 and scouring the Internet intensely for settings that would work. I came across some settings on the O2 forums, but their Internet settings didn’t work but their MMS settings worked like a charm!

I have therefor decided to put the settings I currently use on here in a nice and easy fashion for others to be able to find and use for their HTC Desire phones who are on the O2 pay as you go network!

Follow the instructions below to be able to insert these settings into your phone. If you know how to then you can skip this part!

  • Press ‘Menu’.
  • Tap ‘Settings’.
  • Tap ‘Wireless & Networks’.
  • Tap ‘Mobile networks’.
  • Tap ‘Access Point Names’.
  • Press ‘Menu’.
  • Tap ‘Add APN’

htc desire settings

These settings work for me and I have tested them out by sending a picture message to Kate, and being connected to the Internet and viewing web pages and getting emails. These settings should also work for similar phones such as the Google Nexus One, but there have been reports that these settings work with older HTC Model phones!

Update!

I have been talking to Terry and she has been able to find settings for her HTC Desire, thats unlocked and not branded like mine. Check out her settings in the comments section, if the ones above do not work for you!

  1. Right, just had my HTC Desire sorted in the o2 shop. These are the most upto date settings for the Desire for all those having trouble getting on the mobile web on the o2 network.

    Name: o2 pay and go< APN: payandgo.o2.co.uk
    Proxy: 193.113.200.195
    Port: 8080
    Username: payandgo
    Password: password
    server: not set
    MMSC: not set
    MMS proxy: not set
    MMS Port: not set
    MMS Protocal: WAP 2.0
    MCC: 234
    MNC: 10
    Authentication type: none
    APN type: not set

I also have mms prepay settings which are:

    name: o2 MMS Prepay
    apn: payandgo.o2.co.uk
    proxy: not set
    port: not set
    username: payandgo
    password: password
    server: not set
    mmsc: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
    mms proxy: 193.113.200.195
    mms port: 8080
    mms protocol: WAP 2.0
    mcc: 234
    mnc: 10
    Authentication type: none
    APN type: mms

Now turn your phone off and on again for the settings to do there thing. Ok so i'm now able to use the mobile web and receive picture messages with the green light next to the o2 Pay and Go APN

Hope this helps anyone else that has been struggling.
